PartFolk Terms of Use

By using PartFolk you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula) (the "EULA"). If they conflict, these Terms apply to the extent the EULA allows. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. What PartFolk is — and isn't

  • PartFolk is a self-reflection journal inspired by parts-work ideas, including the Internal Family Systems model.
  • PartFolk is not therapy, medical care, or a crisis service. It doesn't diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional. Talk to a doctor or mental-health professional about your health.
  • Gentle exploration only. PartFolk is designed for everyday reflection. If you're working with painful memories or trauma, do that with a trained therapist.
  • AI can be wrong. Suggestions, reflections and insights are generated automatically, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and are not professional advice. You decide what fits.
  • PartFolk is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the IFS Institute.

2. If you're in crisis

PartFolk can't respond to emergencies, and no one monitors what you write. Our automated safety check may show crisis resources, but it can miss things. If you might hurt yourself or someone else, or are in danger, call your local emergency number now. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).

3. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You can start without an account (an anonymous account on this device) and connect Sign in with Apple later. Your journal is kept on your device and in your iCloud, not by us, so we can't restore it for you. If iCloud is off for PartFolk and you lose, reset or replace your device, your journal can't be recovered. With iCloud on, signing in to the same Apple Account on a new iPhone brings your journal back. Export it from Settings to keep a copy.
  • Keep your device secure. You're responsible for activity under your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

4. Subscriptions, free trial and auto-renewal

  • PartFolk requires a PartFolk Pro subscription after onboarding. Options at launch: monthly and annual. Prices are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy and may vary by country.
  • Free trial: eligible new subscribers may get a 7-day free trial on the annual plan. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you're charged the full price shown. One trial per Apple ID.
  • Auto-renewal: payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase (or at the end of the trial). Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Cancel or manage anytime in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or in PartFolk › Settings › Subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com). We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases.
  • Price changes: if a price goes up, Apple will notify you and, where required, ask for your consent before renewing at the new price.
  • Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel through Apple first.
  • Even without a subscription, you can always reach crisis resources, export your data, and delete your account.

5. Your content

  • What you write is yours. Your journal is stored on your iPhone and in your iCloud, not by us. You give us a limited licence to process it only to run PartFolk for you (sending it to the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy when AI help is on, for that request only).
  • We don't claim ownership, use it for advertising, or publish it.
  • We don't use your journal to train AI models, and our AI providers are contractually barred from doing so.

6. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • use PartFolk to harm, harass or threaten anyone, or for anything illegal;
  • try to access other people's data, probe or overload our systems, or bypass the subscription or rate limits;
  • reverse engineer the app or our APIs, or scrape or resell AI outputs or the service;
  • use automated means to send requests, or use PartFolk to build a competing product.

We may suspend accounts that break these rules or put the service or other people at risk.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep PartFolk available, but it may be interrupted, and AI features require an internet connection. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue PartFolk, we'll give reasonable notice so you can export your journal.

8. Disclaimers and limits of liability

To the extent allowed by law: PartFolk is provided "as is" without warranties; we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on the app; and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live (including in the EU/UK) that can't be waived.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer law says otherwise. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be heard in the state or federal courts in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring it where you live.

10. Changes to these Terms

We'll tell you in the app about material changes before they take effect. Continuing to use PartFolk after that means you accept them.
